Tattooed Mom, Philadelphia
*Tattooed Mom* might be my favorite bar/restaurant in Philly. No, it is my favorite. The husband and I are frequent customers... so much so that we even have a favorite server (love you, Jenny). We've visited TMom's for date nights, birthday parties, community events, art shows, and even dinner with my dad and his wife.
Of course, they feature a wonderful happy hour(s) from 5–7pm and 10–11pm each night as well as daily specials. And their vegan choices are not only plentiful, they are lip-smacking good! Like, tell your friends about it and come back again and again good. And I hear from my omni friends (and husband) that their non-vegan food is equally as delightful ;-)
Mondays are heralded as "Meatless Monday's" and boast half off their veggie (and vegan) menu which includes 11 amazing choices. You can satisfy your taco craving on Tuesdays with "Taco Tuesday" where beef or veggie bean tacos are $1 each from noon until they sell out and the taco of the month is only $2.50 all day—what a deal! Wednesdays are for burgers with $4 burgers and vegan burgers from noon until midnight. Perogi Thursdays are amazing because their signature potato and onion version is VEGAN! And to top off those delish pierogis they have a bunch of housemade sauces and toppings. Something for everyone! As if that wasn't enough, the amazing creativity and inspiration that goes into their cocktail/drink menu is nearly unmatched. (Can you tell I'm a fan?)
As I mentioned, the husband and I are there often. Just last night, in fact. Per the usual I ordered the vegan cheesesteak. I like my cheesesteak a bit different than most I suppose as I add lettuce and tomato to mine. I also get it in a wrap rather than on a roll. A basket of tots and a couple of PBRs rounds out the meal.
Now, let me say that not everyone can make an amazing vegan sandwich, and even fewer can make an amazing vegan cheesesteak sandwich. TMom's can. I'm pretty sure that I could fool my father-in-law with the "meat" in this sandwich. The also have Vegenaise mayo on hand for the tots which, as far as I'm concerned, is the ONLY way to eat a deep fried potato product. Personally, I prefer the *Just Mayo* brand but the fact that they even have a vegan option makes my little heart go pitty pat.
Yes, I've indulged in other vegan options at TMom's and they have all been great. And there are vegan items on the menu that I haven't tried yet. But I keep going back so I know I'll make it though the menu eventually... So when you're in the area go ahead and give them a whirl. :-)
