Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Field Roast veggie burger night

Field Roast veggie burger night

Burger night is usually a once a week or so occurrence in our house. Before I found Field Roast I’d tried several different incarnations of veggie burgers and all manner of brands. And I’d never thought that any of them came very close to replicating the texture or density of a beef burger.

The Field Roast brand has really succeeded in this regard and their burgers, as well of several other of their products like sausages and deli meat, have made their way into my refrigerator.

The husband says that he likes the Field Roast burgers but that they leave him with mushroom flavored burps. *shrug* I do not get such flavored burps (thank goodness!) so I will continue to eat these burgers with gleeful joy.

Check out that color and texture! (also, tater tots are a must with a burger!)

For some reason, Amazon does not carry the Field Roast burgers but they do carry several other Field Roast products like sausages; my very favorite being the Smoked Apple Sage sausages. They have a wonderful slightly smoked apple aroma (and large pieces of apple) and actually remind me of some very gourmet and expensive chicken and apple sausages I had back in my pre-vegan days. They are so very good sliced up, fried, and served over pasta and Alfredo sauce (drool….).

I also very much like the Italian style sausages—they work well in both pasta and rice dishes and I’m certain they’d be simply amazing on a long roll with peppers and onion :-) They have a mild fennel flavor to them and are a bit sweet with undertones of onion and garlic. Really, they are quite spectacular.

Oh, and their Chao cheeses are really good as well—perfect for sandwiches. They don’t melt especially well though so you might want to pass on them if you’re thinking of a grilled cheese :-(

The only Field Roast product I’m not especially fond of are their maple breakfast sausages. It’s not that they aren’t a quality product, it’s only that I’m not a fan of maple syrup, but if you are I think these would be a great choice for your weekend breakfasting needs.
