Tomo Sushi and Ramen Bar
Philadelphia is a wonderful city filled with some of the best food in America. We are also fortunate to have our very own Vegan Restaurant Week twice a year! These are my favorite times of year ;-) This year proceeds helps to benefit Misfit Manor ( https://www.misfitmanorrescue.org ) whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome at-risk animals, provide refuge to those that cannot be adopted out, and reduce the number of owner-surrenders by helping people care for their companion animals.
Of the about 45 participating restaurants this season, the husband and I tried out a couple of new places; one of which was Tomo Sushi and Ramen Bar http://www.tomosushiandramen.com/. It did not disappoint. In fact, I’m still surprised at not only how many vegan sushi rolls they offered, but at just how creative and beautiful the rolls and presentation were. A+ and 5 stars.
I started wit the Steamed Veggie Gyoza ($5) and a side of Edamame ($4). For my main meal I ordered 2 rolls. The first was the Vegan Tomo Roll ($13) which is spicy vegan tuna, avocado, cilantro, topped with seared vegan tuna. The second was the Guacarollie Roll ($13) which is vegan cream cheese, vegan spicy tuna, topped with guacamole.
Each of these rolls were amazing (as was the gyoza!). I was truly blown away by the vegan tuna which is actually made from tomatoes…who knew?!? Event he husband ordered from the prix fix vegan menu and he was likely even more impressed than I was, haha. The Guacarollie Roll was amazingly decadent but also so light. I’ve already been planning another trip to Tomo. It really is that good!
